Welcome to our web site. Mary Ann and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary on May 11, 2001. As you may know, Mary Ann's maiden name is McAlpine and it has been a dream of hers to see the land of her Scottish ancestors. So to celebrate our anniversary we decided to take a trip to that ancient and beautiful land, and traveled there in August.
While researching the history of Scotland, Mary Ann discovered that the McAlpine name can be traced back to Kenneth MacAlpin, acknowledged to be the first king of a united Scotland in 843 AD. So, the trip took on added significance in knowing we would tread on the same ground as this noted figure in Scotland's history. To read more about Kenneth MacAlpin, click here.
In Scotland we discovered a land of enchanting beauty with an ancient and intriguing history. We were completely captivated by the legends and stories of this mystical land, and felt as though we were transported to the days of old when knights were bold. Thanks for letting us share some of our memories with you.
